CPRA releases Story Map: Louisiana’s Working Coast
Today, the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority released an interactive Story Map tool communicate the national significance of Louisiana’s Working Coast. This visually focused Story Map communicates the compelling story using narratives, photos and maps, and conveys diverse and poignant details that surround Louisiana’s vanishing coast and the necessity to create a more resilient coast through the State’s Coastal Master Plan.
$3 Million Available to Support Scientific and Environmental Literacy
The Gulf Research Program is offering up to $3 million in grants to support efforts to increase the scientific and environmental literacy and problem-solving skills of children and youth, with a focus on service-, project-, or problem-based learning opportunities in areas relevant to their initiatives.
Levron Retires, Fontenot and Landry Named New Management Conference Chair and Vice Chair
The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) held its 81st Management Conference meeting on November 2, 2017 at Nicholls State University. At the meeting, Al Levron officially announced his retirement as Chairperson after serving 15 years and Dr. Quenton Fontenot and Jean Landry were elected as the new Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
BTNEP to Host 4th Annual “Estuary Artworks” Art Contest
BTNEP would like to invite all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade who live in the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary System (BTES) to participate in BTNEP’s contest. Students are invited to submit their artwork for judging by Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 4pm to the BTNEP office.
Volunteers Wanted for International Coastal Cleanup
The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) and Nicholls State University (NSU) are asking for volunteers for their upcoming beach cleanup at Elmer’s Island on Saturday, September 16, 2017.
