The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) is a unique and complex, multi-year program of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and is an affiliate of Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON). Essential to the effectiveness of the National Estuary Program is the significant participation of other state and federal agencies, local governments, university scientists, educators, and other citizens and stakeholders of the Barataria-Terrebonne estuarine complex.
The BTNEP Student Worker will assist the Office Manager/Director’s Assistant with daily responsibilities including but not limited to answering phones, attending to visitors and the general public, filing, checking mail on a daily basis, assisting in written final minutes for management conference, and other reporting, keep track of publication inventory (complete requests and mail outs for products from web, phone, and email responses). In addition, student will be required to take out recycle and trash, watering plants, keeping the front office clean, making sure vehicles are cleaned and fueled up for the next staff member.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Enrolled in a College/University/Vocational/Technical College
IDEAL CANDIDATE/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-3 years customer service or related experience
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited the following:
- Greet persons entering BTNEP
- Answer, respond, and direct phone calls, emails and mail delivery recordkeeping and providing input and support for quarterly and annual reports
- Willing to assist other departments as necessary
- Ability to perform task in a timely and accurate manner.
