Paddle the Estuary: Bayou Pierre Part – Halloween Edition | Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026
Get ready to explore the scenic beauty of our estuary with BTNEP’s 2nd annual Paddle the Estuary series, which allows participants to explore different areas of the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary each year.
Our 2026 Paddle the Estuary is happening Saturday, October 31st along Bayou Pierre Part and surrounding waterways! We’ll be launching from Veteran’s Park (2862 Highway 70 S., Pierre Part, LA 70339) for an exciting 5.5-mile or 10-mile paddle along the winding Bayou Pierre Part, surrounded by lush native vegetation and vibrant wildlife. Whether you’re an experienced paddler or just looking for a fun way to connect with nature, this event offers a unique way to experience Louisiana’s only national estuary! Check-in begins at 8 am, and breakfast will be available. A welcome ceremony will begin at 8:45 am, with the launch starting at 9 am. The paddle is expected to take most participants around 4 hours (shorter routes available). After your time on the water, enjoy a hearty lunch of home-cooked jambalaya and white beans, while tapping your toes to live music from the Cajun Music Preservation Society.
Adult registration is $30, students (K–college) are $15, and children five and under paddle for free. Your registration includes an event t-shirt, breakfast, lunch, and other BTNEP swag! Be sure to register by October 16 to guarantee a t-shirt. Extra t-shirts will be ordered, but availability is not guaranteed after the 16th. Please note that participants must bring their own canoe, kayak, or paddleboard, along with a paddle and life jacket. Participants will not be allowed on the water without a life jacket. If you need to reserve a kayak/canoe, please contact Emily Braud at 985-448-4990. The kayaks/canoes will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis and will be ready at the launch site on the morning of the paddle. Each reservation includes a paddle and a life jacket. Water and light snacks will be provided in the morning. Please bring a reusable water bottle to fill on-site.
