Q4 Management Conference #113 | NOVEMBER 6 | CITY OF PLAQUEMINE

The 113th BTNEP Management Conference will be held on Thursday, November 6th, in Iberville Parish at the Plaquemine Community Center, located at 57845 Foundry Street in the city of Plaquemine.

The agenda includes several interesting topics that will be presented to the Management Conference and those in attendance. Heather Blanchard, Vice President of Friends of the Lock, will kick off our presentations to highlight the newly restored Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site and its historical significance to this region of the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary. Next, we’ll hear from Caroline Byrne Cassagne, Executive Director of the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area, as she shares a bit about the program and its efforts in the region. Next, Erin Kiskaddon, Coastal Ecologist with The Water Institute of the Gulf, and David Reeves, Louisiana Monitoring & Adaptive Management Lead at NOAA, will discuss new monitoring projects within the Barataria and Terrebonne Basins, focusing on ecological baselines, addressing knowledge gaps, and supporting effective marsh habitat restoration. Lastly, we’ll hear from Joseph “Wes” LeBlanc, Coastal Resources Scientist Manager at CPRA, who will discuss the Atchafalaya Basin Program and the development of its new Master Plan. He will offer insights about the multi-year effort plan that is designed to assess the current state of the Atchafalaya River System and prioritize its future management.
