The Director leads the Division of Ecological Restoration, one of three Divisions (and one Office) of the Department of Fish and Game. The Director is responsible for all functions and program performance ensuring that the Deputy Director is properly managing the day-today operations of the Division and the assistant director is administering annual budgets properly. The Director develops and makes sure the annual and five-year strategic plan goals are implemented and sets procedures and program priorities for the Deputy Director and Assistant Director to administer. The Director oversees development of the operational and capital budgets and manages a diverse staff.
The Director works with state, federal and local partners to promote, facilitate and enhance the practice of ecosystem-based wetland and stream restoration, including dam removal, stream crossing/culvert replacement, flow restoration, water quality enhancement, technical assistance, and constituent building for a suite of aquatic ecosystems. This requires that the Director initiate policies and programs that facilitate and promote aquatic ecosystem restoration and develop new funding streams to leverage state funds. The Director oversees the staff’s management of 60 complex projects and ensures that planning advances restoration efforts in a strategic manner.
