Position: Marine Education Project Manager

Opportunity Description: Job Summary: This position supports Marine Education Center (MEC) projects and programs focusing on scientific and environmental literacy. Projects include development, implementation, and instruction of community and K-12 education programs and curriculum. The successful applicant will administer selected existing projects and seek funding for new projects. The successful applicant will also manage the MEC Citizen Science Laboratory.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: Administer externally funded projects, including work plan implementation, evaluation, staff supervision, recordkeeping, reporting, and budget management. Assist in developing proposals that fund new MEC programs and partnerships. Manage MEC Citizen Science Laboratory, including development of protocols, inventory and supplies, and interaction with users. Coordinate volunteer efforts associated with externally funded projects. Communicate science and project results to a variety of audiences (diverse members of the public, researcher scientists, marine education community members). Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience: Minimum Qualifications: B.S. in STEM-related field with at least 5 years demonstrated success in proposal development, lab management, or education program evaluation. Driver license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): Knowledge of lab safety. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification (training provided).Ability to use basic equipment and instrumentation for teaching, outreach and research in field and laboratory. Ability to maintain inventory, and store equipment in good condition. Ability to interact comfortably with members of diverse K-12 and adult communities. Ability to work independently to address novel challenges effectively. Ability to read and comprehend scientific information. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in Microsoft software package. Ability to swim and work in variable field conditions. Ability to travel for frequent day-trips and occasional overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in STEM-related field or M.S. plus three years of STEM or STEM education experience. Ability to operate small boats.
