The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) of the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) invites applications for a Senior Research Associate 1 position in Essential Fish Habitat
(EFH) Assessment. The research will involve close collaboration with scientists at RSMAS and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Ocean Chemistry and Ecosystems Division of the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological
Laboratory (AOML/OCED), Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC), and the Habitat Conservation Division of Southeast Regional Office (SERO/HCD).

Applicants must have a M.S. in coastal/estuarine ecology, fisheries management, marine biology, applied statistics, or a related discipline and some research experience gained during education/training or employment in a research position. The work will involve using and interpreting diverse data sets to assess ecosystem status and trends, and evaluate potential impacts to EFH. The successful candidate should have experience conducting a variety of multivariate statistics (including time-series analyses, principal components analysis, non-metric multidimensional scaling, trade-off analyses, etc.) and
Habitat Suitability Indices (HSIs) for aquatic organisms. Experience and proficiency in R coding (the language and environment for statistical computing) for use in data management, conducting statistical analyses and creation of figures for scientific publications are required. The incumbent should have extensive knowledge of fisheries science (e.g., fisheries habitat assessment, life history, food webs, population dynamics, management of recreational/commercial species, etc.) and knowledge of common fisheries species in the Gulf of Mexico. The duty station for this position is negotiable.
