The S.C. Sea Grant Consortium (Consortium), in partnership with the College of Charleston’s School of Science and Mathematics (SSM), is seeking a Coastal Resilience Program Specialist to provide the technical expertise necessary to expand our capabilities, broaden our reach, and provide a wider range of services to the many constituencies which are requesting science-based information and technical assistance in enhancing their resilience to coastal change.

The Consortium, a state agency established to manage the Sea Grant College program for South Carolina and based in Charleston, SC, optimizes the environmental, social, and economic potential of the coastal and marine resources of the state and region through the support and dissemination of high-quality research, extension, and education programming. The College of Charleston’s SSM supports the building of adaptive capacity in South Carolina through natural science research, spatial analysis and outreach facilitating the integration of climate information into coastal management and decision making.

Responsibilities
 
The Coastal Resilience Program Specialist (CRPS) will collaborate with the Consortium’s Climate and Resilience Specialist to address the coastal climate impacts and resiliency needs of a variety of constituencies by (1) extending science-based climate and weather information and its impact at regional and local levels and (2) providing hands-on operational and technical support to coastal communities, resource managers, and interest groups in South Carolina and the region, in support of fostering coastal community resilience.
