This position is located at the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) in the Environmental Section, Studies and Environmental Branch, Planning and Research Division.

 

The incumbent, along with other coastal resources scientists and professionals, will be responsible for performing scientific/environmental and other technical work in support of planning and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Oil Pollution Act (OPA) review as well as federal/state permitting of CPRA’s overall coastal restoration and hurricane flood protection program.  Responsibilities include evaluating and assessing the feasibility and/or ecological/environmental benefits of coastal restoration and flood protection projects and obtaining federal/state permits.  These responsibilities include coordinating NEPA and OPA planning efforts such as scoping, alternatives development, and environmental consequences and coordinating with federal and state regulatory agencies.   Responsibilities also include assisting in providing planning, NEPA, and OPA program oversight to interdisciplinary teams and communicating permitting activities and procedures to customers such as state and federal agencies, special interest groups, other officials, and the general public in order to implement CPRA’s overall coastal restoration and hurricane flood protection program.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Coastal Resources Scientist 1, Coastal Resources Scientist 2, or Coastal Resources Scientist 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).  Please refer to the ‘Job Specifications’ tab located at the top of the LA Careers ‘Current Job Opportunities’ page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.  The maximum salary for CRS 3 is $78,582.00 annually.

CRS 3 $1932.00
