  • Local Program Receives Gulf of Mexico Programs Gulf Guardian Awards

    BTNEP is proud to announce that Alma Robichaux, Matt Benoit, and former staff member, Joseph Dantin will be receiving the Gulf of Mexico Program’s Gulf Guardian Award on behalf of BTNEP for their work on two unique projects. The awards will be given on July 30, 2015 in Corpus Christi, TX.

  • BTNEP Announces New Director

    Release Date: November 18, 2014

    Susan Testroet-Bergeron will join the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) as the new director on January 5, 2015. Susan has years of experience in the wetlands community working for the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) program and the BTNEP in the roles of education specialist, communications, media, and outreach coordinator.

  • BTNEP Announces Endowed Scholarship in Honor of Retired Program Director, Kerry St. Pé

    Nicholls State University will begin offering a new scholarship this fall to full-time marine biology students in honor of distinguished alum Kerry St. Pé. The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) is proud to announce the establishment of the Kerry St. Pé Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program Endowed Scholarship in Marine Biology at Nicholls State University (NSU). The scholarship was developed in recognition of St. Pé’s distinguished career as director of BTNEP and his lasting contributions to the preservation of Louisiana’s most precious estuary and the rich culture associated with it. The Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Foundation (BTEF) and friends of St. Pé are endowing the scholarship in Marine Biology with a gift of $10,000 to the Nicholls Foundation. The scholarship of $250 per semester will be awarded to a full time NSU student enrolled in Marine Biology at Nicholls State University. Students can apply for the scholarship by contacting Financial Aid at Nicholls State University. The scholarship will be awarded beginning in the fall of 2014.

  • BTEF Awarded Grant from Da Bayou Chapter of the Delta Waterfowl

    Delta Waterfowl Grant awarded. On March 25, 2014, the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Foundation (BTEF) was awarded a grant by the Da’ Bayou Chapter of Delta Waterfowl Foundation (DWF) for waterfowl habitat restoration projects in the Terrebonne Basin. The grant money will support the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program’s (BTNEP) restoration efforts.

  • BTNEP Volunteer Program Making Progress the Past Two Months

    (BTNEP) volunteer groups have been very busy over the past few months making progress towards restoring our national estuary. Over the months of April and May, volunteers from in state and out of state have dedicated their time and effort to becoming educated on the issues affecting our estuary, as well as, taking action in saving it.
