  • School Supply Drive in Support of Recent Louisiana Flooding

    Release Date: September 06, 2016

    The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) will be conducting a school supply drive beginning on September 6, 2016, in support of those affected in the recent Louisiana flooding. Due to the devastating record setting August flooding, many schools in Ascension and Livingston Parishes have lost a lot of their supplies and equipment. BTNEP would like to help those schools get back on their feet with some of the essential supplies they need to guarantee a productive school year for their students.

    Based at the LUMCON Marine Center in Cocodrie, LA and reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will be charged with establishing and building fundraising for the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium. We are seeking a dynamic individual to build and sustain our an annual giving program and initiate a comprehensive stewardship plan to insure best practices in donor relations and retention, and attract Major Gifts (annual gifts of $25k+), Principal Gifts ($500K), and foundation grants.

  • FALSE River WETMAAP Workshop With Teacher Stipend

    Release Date: May 04, 2016

    Date and Time: June 25, 2016; 8 AM (Registration) - 3:30 PMUsing the False River WETMAAP materials, this training supports education outreach and professional development for environmental and earth sciences formal and informal educators. This BTNEP funded session will provide an opportunity for educators to increase and enhance their knowledge and skills using topographic and wetland survey maps, aerial photography, satellite imagery and website resources for the classroom.

  • Ship Time & Shoreline Teacher Workshop

    Release Date: March 25, 2016

    July 11-15, 2016. Ship Time & Shoreline is a teacher workshop designed to immerse educators in the coastal habitats of South Louisiana. This workshop provides insight about various science methods by giving the teachers the role of scientist. Field and laboratory activities will highlight the scientific methods being used by Coastal Waters Consortium researchers.

  • Louisiana Junior Master Naturalist/Wetlands Camps

    June 6-10, 2016 - Louisiana Junior Master Naturalist/Wetlands Camps at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center in Thibodaux - Camps welcome teens ages 13-17 to explore the beauty and history of Louisiana featuring fieldwork with experts and scientists, getting behind-the-scenes for real in-depth investigations, from restoration plantings at Port Fourchon to archeology studies.

  • WETSHOP 2016

    Release Date: March 10, 2016

    WETSHOP 2016: July 10 – 15, 2016 @ LDWF Marine Research Lab, Grand Isle, LA. A week-long, dynamic teacher workshop that allows teachers to work with educator/scientists to learn about Louisiana coastal wetlands, issues and history. The focus of the summer workshop is to create wetland stewards of teachers in order for them to educate co-workers and students in their home parishes about coastal land loss. Fifty-five professional contact hours will be accrued upon the completion of this wetland institute. (Application Deadline May 20, 2016.)
